Where Chalet Tropical Sits
On the jungle coast near Uvita, tucked between the rainforest and a wild, mostly-deserted beach — close enough that the surf is part of the home, and a short walk takes you to the sand.
Most homes on this coast give you the ocean as a view; Chalet Tropical gives it to you as a sound and a short walk. The villa sits in the jungle beside a quiet beach, with the comforts of a luxury home and the wildness right outside. For the region itself, see Where You Are: Costa Ballena.
The Beach & the Surf
This is the home's signature: a wild, near-empty beach just a couple of minutes' walk away, and the unbroken sound of the waves from dawn to dusk and back again.
Guests describe the adjacent beach as “truly magic” — pristine and mostly deserted, the kind of stretch you can have largely to yourselves. Being able to walk to the sand is genuinely rare among the area's hillside villas, and the constant rhythm of the surf is, as the home's own description puts it, “a soundtrack woven seamlessly into your journey.”
“Immaculate house with a pool and a short walk to the beach. Absolutely stunning and amazing. Perfect!”Guest review
Arrival & Access
The team meets you and guides you in; a 4x4 or capable vehicle is the right choice for the coastal jungle roads, and worth having to explore the area.
Most guests fly into San José (SJO) and drive about three and a half hours south, or take the short flight to Quepos and continue by road; the team can arrange a rental and a shuttle, and meets you for check-in. As ever on this coast, a 4x4 is the comfortable choice for the area's beaches and back roads. The full picture is in Roads, Rental Cars & Transportation and Getting Here.
The Home, the Pool & the Setting
A spacious, brand-new home finished with care — “even better than the pictures” — with a private pool and the jungle pressing in on every side.
Guests call it immaculate, comfortable, and abundant in space, with a pool that's the centre of the days and the jungle (and the beach) just steps away. The on-site caretakers, Juan Carlos and his family, keep the house and grounds beautifully. It's a home built for relaxing into the sound of the sea.
A Closer Look
A few moments from around Chalet Tropical — the pool and the jungle, the beach nearby, the living spaces. (Photos to come.)
Bedrooms & Sleeping Arrangements
Three bedrooms with abundant space, sleeping eight — comfortable and serene, with the surf as the lullaby.
Guests highlight the “abundant space and lodging,” making the home a relaxed fit for a family or group of friends. Tell the concierge how your party splits and they'll set it up before arrival.
Food, Chef & Service
On-site caretakers and the concierge team keep things effortless — private chefs, massages, groceries, and tours, all arranged.
Juan Carlos and his family look after the house and grounds, and the team arranges private chefs, in-villa massages, grocery pre-stocking, drivers, and tours. The markets, fish vendors, and restaurants of the area are covered in Food, Groceries, Chefs & Eating Well.
Wildlife & Soundscape
Between the howler monkeys overhead and the surf below, Chalet Tropical is one of the most sensory homes in the collection.
The home's own description captures it: the gentle rhythm of waves unbroken through the day, and the distant call of howler monkeys reverberating through the treetops. Birds and wildlife fill the jungle around the house. More in Wildlife & Living in Nature.
What to Understand Before You Book
Two honest notes, so the home is exactly what you expect.
First, the nearby beach is wild and natural — beautiful and quiet, but check with the team about swimming and surf conditions for your dates, as a wild beach is not always a calm one. Second, a capable vehicle (ideally a 4x4) is the right choice for the area's coastal jungle roads and for exploring. Neither surprises a guest who's read it here.
Who Chalet Tropical Suits (and Who May Prefer Another)
It suits beach-lovers, families, and couples who want the sound of the sea and a short walk to the sand, with the privacy and comfort of a jungle villa.
If being able to walk to a wild, near-empty beach matters to you — and you love falling asleep to the surf — Chalet Tropical is a rare find on this coast. You may prefer a different home if you want a high, panoramic hilltop view, or a large-group or events property — the team can suggest homes like Casa Amigos instead.
“The location is dreamy, just two minutes from the pristine and mostly deserted beach. Even better than the pictures.”
