Where Casa Solaz Sits

In a small, gated community with 24/7 security on the jungle ridge above Dominicalito, overlooking the Pacific — secluded and quiet, yet only about five minutes down to Dominical's beaches, shops, and restaurants.

Casa Solaz is set in the Las Olas gated community on the hills behind Dominicalito, with the rolling Pacific laid out below and rainforest all around. It blends seclusion with convenience: the beach at Playa Dominicalito is roughly a mile and a half down, and Dominical town — with its grocery store, surf, and restaurants — about five minutes by car. Waterfalls and the Whale's Tail at Marino Ballena are short drives away. For the region itself, see Where You Are: Costa Ballena.

Arrival & Access (the 4x4)

Like the homes on these ridges, Casa Solaz needs a genuine 4x4 to reach — or a driver who knows the way. The team meets you at the community entrance and guides you in.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required for the final climb; the team meets you at the entrance of the Las Olas community in a white Toyota Prado and leads you to the house, which can be a little tricky to find the first time. Most guests fly into San José (SJO) and drive about three and a half hours south, or take the short scenic flight to Quepos (Sansa or Green Airways) — a private plane for up to ten is an option — and continue by road. The full picture is in Roads, Rental Cars & Transportation and Getting Here.

“Beautiful home, we definitely enjoyed our stay. Keep in mind you do need a 4x4 to make it to the house — other than that, everything was great!”Guest review

The Home & Its Design

An intimate, beautifully kept villa — four king bedrooms across about 3,000 ft² — designed to feel calm and open, with the jungle and ocean present from the living spaces and a terrace built for the view.

Solaz is more intimate than the sprawling estates nearby, and that's part of its charm: a comfortable, immaculate home that guests describe as “immaculate,” “spotless,” and, more than once, the nicest place they've stayed. The living spaces open to a terrace with a professional grill and a covered pagoda for reading out of the sun, and the whole home is oriented toward the sunset. It's the kind of house people book once and return to.

The Yoga Deck

One of Casa Solaz's signatures: a dedicated yoga deck set out in the trees, where guests start the day with the ocean below and the forest waking around them.

“Start your day on the yoga deck” is the house's own invitation, and it's a real one — guests single out the “yoga lodge” as a highlight, with mats kept at the home. It makes Solaz a natural fit for a wellness-minded stay or a small group that wants to move in the mornings, and the team can arrange a yoga instructor, an in-villa massage, or a private chef to round it out.

The Pool & Outdoor Living

An infinity pool with the ocean beyond it, a covered pagoda for shade, and a terrace with a proper grill — the heart of the home is outdoors, and the sunsets are the evening event.

Guests consistently call out the pool, the deck, and the grill, and the wildlife that joins them: it's common to watch birds and monkeys move through the trees from the water. The covered pagoda gives a shaded spot to read poolside, and the terrace and grill make easy work of an evening cookout while the sun goes down over the Pacific. As with any pool on a hillside, supervise children closely around the water (more in Families & Multi-Generational Travel).

A few moments from around Casa Solaz — the pool and the view, the terrace, the living spaces. (Temporary listing photos — final photography to come.)

Bedrooms & Sleeping Arrangements

Four bedrooms, each with a king bed, sleeping eight — comfortable and well-kept, with ocean-and-jungle views and a crib available for the littlest travellers.

The four king bedrooms make Solaz an easy fit for four couples, a family, or a group of friends, and a crib is available on request for families with a baby. Guests repeatedly note how clean and well-functioning the home is — comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, everything working — which is part of why it earns such consistent reviews. Tell the concierge your group and any needs, and they'll have it set up before you arrive.

Kitchen, Food & Chef

A well-equipped open kitchen and a professional terrace grill — easy to cook in, and easy to hand over to a private chef for a dinner under the stars.

The kitchen is set up for cooking for the group, and the terrace grill gets singled out by guests for cookouts with the view. The team can arrange a private chef — a first-night dinner cooked on arrival is a popular choice — plus grocery pre-stocking, in-villa massages, and a yoga instructor. The markets, fish vendors, and Dominical restaurants (Phat Noodle, Café Mono Congo, Sibu Café, and Scala among them) are covered in Food, Groceries, Chefs & Eating Well.

Wildlife & Soundscape

This is a properly wild backyard — toucans and monkeys are regular visitors, and guests describe watching wildlife from the pool as a daily highlight.

Set in mature jungle, Solaz is alive with birds and the movement of the canopy; toucans, monkeys, and unusual birds turn up in the trees around the house and in the backyard view. It's one of the things guests mention most after the view itself — the feeling of being immersed in the rainforest while staying somewhere clean, comfortable, and modern. Practicalities & Honest Notes

A few honest, useful things to know before you book — the kind of details that make a jungle home exactly what you expect on arrival.

A washer, but no dryer. The home has a washing machine but not a dryer — easy to plan around, but worth knowing.

It's a true jungle home, so bugs find their way in. Several of the bathrooms have window openings that aren't fully sealed, so the occasional insect gets inside — guests mention it warmly as part of rainforest living rather than a problem, but it's the honest picture. You run the A/C with doors closed at night.

Construction on the neighbouring lot. In full transparency: building work is underway on the lot next door, expected to wrap by 2027. It's limited to daytime hours, and the rates are discounted during this period to reflect it — so it's also where Solaz becomes real value.

Power. Area-wide outages happen occasionally on this coast, usually after heavy rain, and are typically resolved within an hour or two; the community has on-site guards who keep the team posted, and the concierge stays on it.

What Guests Consistently Appreciate

What to Understand Before You Book

Three honest notes, so the home is exactly what you expect on arrival.

First, the 4x4 road is real — you'll need a proper four-wheel-drive or a driver, and the team meets you at the community gate to guide you in. Second, this is a jungle home: there's a washer but no dryer, the bathrooms aren't fully bug-sealed, and there's daytime construction on the next lot (reflected in discounted rates) until 2027. Third, Solaz is a relaxed home for families and friends — parties and events aren't permitted, so it's not the place for a wedding or large celebration (the team can point you to homes that are). None of these surprise a guest who's read them here — which is the whole point.

Who Casa Solaz Suits (and Who May Prefer Another)

It suits families, couples, and groups of up to eight who want an intimate, well-loved, view-first home with a wellness streak — and excellent value while the neighbouring build continues.

If you want ocean views, a yoga deck and infinity pool, abundant wildlife, the reassurance of a gated 24/7-security community, and a home with a long track record of happy guests, Solaz is a natural fit — especially for a calm family or friends' trip. You may prefer a different home if you need easy paved access with no 4x4, a dryer, fully sealed rooms, or a property that hosts events and weddings — in which case the team can suggest homes like Casa Colibri or Casa Amigos instead.

“This house is immaculate, with stunning views of the jungle and ocean. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Highly recommend.”

Where can I book Casa Solaz?

Where to Book & Booking Direct

You'll find Casa Solaz on the major platforms — but booking directly with the local team is usually the best value, and always the most personal.

The home is on Airbnb and other portals, where it has earned dozens of strong reviews over the years. It's the same villa wherever you discover it.

That said, a direct enquiry tends to serve you best. The large portals add their own service fees and taxes on top of the nightly rate; reaching the Pura Villas team directly often means a better rate, and always means a real person who can shape the stay — the chef, the yoga, the driver, the 4x4 — from your first question through to check-out.

How to inquire

Start planning a stay at Casa Solaz.

To check availability or to start planning a stay, the simplest path is to message the Pura Villas team directly. Responses typically arrive within a few hours from a local team member rather than an automated system, and questions about dates, group size, the road, the chef, yoga, and concierge services are answered personally.

Cancellation: no penalty until 61 days before check-in; 50% from 60 to 31 days; 100% within 30 days. Final cleaning US$135 / booking. Crib available on request. Check-in 15:00–20:00 (in person, never later); check-out before 10:00. A genuine 4x4 or a pre-arranged driver is required to reach the property. No parties or events.
